Replacing Your Turn Signal Switch
By FalleN4ng31
So your turn signal is stuck in an on position or toasted out completely? Still a beginner and don't want to risk breaking it further? (Like me) Then read on.
Well the hardest part of this task is parting with the cash for the new one. Mine set me back $65.00 from Rockauto. Unfortunately I needed mine the next day, but, you might be able to find a junked car with one cheaper; So shop around.
**Your Haynes/Chiltons manual might lie to you and tell you to remove the entire steering wheel** **This is not necessary unless you have to replace the entire assembly (Which includes the wiper switch)**
Thanks to freelancefool for saving me the time of taking off my steering wheel!
Ok,
The first thing standing in your way is the plastic steering wheel housing. No problem, there are just three screws holding that bad boy together. Since these are blind screws (unless you are a contortionist) have a little patience, This is the most time consuming part of the install.
Ok now that you have those screws out, Remove the steering column housing. Take note of the two screws holding your switch in place. Both are in the center of the switch assembly, one on top, one on bottom.
After you have these out, go ahead and slide the switch out of the plastic guides; This will let you access the two harnesses in the rear of the switch.
After youve got these out go ahead and replace the switch. Repeat the steps in reverse order, you're done! Not hard at all was it?
Now time for the last step,
Cheers! -Paul
